Should He Have Stayed One More Season? Mark Sanchez Enters the NFL Draft!

Mark Sanchez, quarterback for the USC Trojans, has entered the 2009 NFL draft. He is projected to be one of the top picks in the next NFL draft. After leading the Trojans to a lopsided victory in this year's Rose Bowl, Mark Sanchez showcased a lot of talent that can be utilized by many NFL teams. But will this translate to being a top NFL pick?

It should. Sanchez had a great season this year, his first full season as the USC starting quarterback. Mark Sanchez is ranked as a top 10 draft pick because of his intangible skills that are vital for success in the NFL. He ranks very high against the quarterbacks that will be entering this year's upcoming draft in passing yards and touchdowns. He led the Trojans to the number three overall ranking in college football and only had one loss in an otherwise undefeated season. Many loyal USC supporters had high hopes for the quarterback to return to play for one more season as a Trojan. With Mark Sanchez running the team, the Trojans had high hopes of winning another national championship. But now that he is entering the draft let's take a look at what teams might choose him.

The Detroit Lions have the first overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft. This is a team that didn't win any games this season. One position that they will be looking to fill in the draft is going to be a quarterback. They need a leader to run this team. You have to believe that Detroit is only looking at maybe three or four players to fill their need at quarterback, one of them being Mark Sanchez.

The St. Louis Rams have the second overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft. After finishing a season in which they only won two games, St. Louis doesn't really need a quarterback, but they could possibly pick one with such a high draft choice and make a trade with another team. If St. Louis is going to pick a quarterback, they will be looking at the same three to four quarterbacks to fill this position , including Mark Sanchez.

The Kansas City Chiefs have the third overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft. After finishing a season in which they only won two games as well, they too will be seeking a new quarterback in this year's upcoming draft. If Mark Sanchez is still on the board, you have to believe that Mark Sanchez is the logical choice. With the first two teams taking at least one quarterback, the Chiefs will only be looking at two other quarterbacks to take with their pick. If Mark Sanchez is still available he is a lock to go third to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Everybody knows that playing at USC, with their stellar athletes, world-class offense and punishing defense, it's easy to become a star if you have some talent. We all have to wait until draft day to find out where Mark Sanchez is going and wait for the upcoming season to see if being a star at USC translates to success in the NFL.
